*gets up on stage, grabs the mic shakily, and starts rambling*
Hello, my name is Khristine, or Kay.
The purpose of this blog is to be brave. I'm not accustomed to putting myself out there--let alone in writing--for everyone to see and judge. Grammar and punctuations scare the living hell out of me. Not making sense to anyone scares me even more. I'm hoping that as time passes, I will learn to shed those fears and become a good and useful blogger.
I've read countless of books since my honeymoon (Yes, I started a book binge on my honeymoon close to two years ago, thanks to E.L. James). Fifty Shades of Grey changed my reading life forever. Reading essentially disgusted me before that. It simply was just not fun. Little did I know that I only needed to find my niche, my genre. After Fifty Shades, I read every single book with ample reviews similar to it. Amazon must have been jumping for joy with my newfound addiction.
Changing the method through which I read books helped in my transformation from non-reader to avid reader as well. Don't judge me, but I can't seem to read real books, as in books made of paper that you can smell and feel. Even though I read Fifty Shades in print, I've long since switched to e-books, and the difference is otherworldly (Is otherworldly a word? It is now). The convenience of eBooks has made it possible for me to purchase and read so many books. I can be reading at any given time, at any given place. Add the less expensive compared to print price factor, and I've hit gold. I am also an audiobook addict, perhaps even more so than an eBook one. Audible.com is my friend. Whispersync is my best friend. I can be seen at work with earbuds securely fastened into my ears for most of the day. Needless to say, my reading habits have had a Cinderella transformation. I found Cinderella in me, Colleen Hoover!
What do I read? Well, if you go into the Amazon Kindle Store>Kindle eBooks>Romance>Contemporary, you'll probably see my name. That's where I get the magic. I mean...I read a lot of books from there. ;-) Some authors that are near and dear to my heart are: Colleen Hoover, Jessica Park, Jamie McGuire, Abbi Glines, Jasinda Wilder, and Sylvain Reynard. I could go on and on but there just wouldn't be enough space in this blog.
In November of 2013, I created a Twitter account for the sole purpose of following my favorite authors. It opened a whole new world for me and made it possible to interact with the people who wrote the books that moved me, as well as those who enjoy the same books as I do. I found that being able to interact with an author about their book--and instantaneously, too--makes a huge difference in a reading experience. It's just fun. It's also fun to know what other people think of the book you're currently reading. It's even more fun to receive book recommendations from the authors themselves! #IloveTwitter
I wanted to blog about romance novels, plain and simple. But beyond giving an occasional opinion or letting a specific author know what I think of their book on Twitter, I've never formally given a book review. Confession time: I lied when I said in the beginning that the purpose of this blog was to be brave. That's B.S. I actually started this blog because I wanted to be legit so as to have access to book ARCs. (Thanks, Helena Hunting. Please approve my request for Inked Armor! ;-)) Phew! Now that that's out of my chest, I have to say that I do wish to be a reliable and honest book reviewer, maybe even a non-boring one. I will do my work and be useful to you! The ins-and-outs of this blogger/reviewer world are still lost on me, but maybe I will just do my own thing for a while, unless someone decides to save me from myself. In the meantime, please bear with me as I learn the ropes. I will try to write at least one review per week and go from there.
With that said, I'm currently reading Alpha by Jasinda Wilder. Let's read together! Get it here: http://www.amazon.com/Alpha-Jasinda-Wilder-ebook/dp/B00IRGU5OU/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1399041718&sr=1-1&keywords=alpha+jasinda+wilder
Review to come...on here...on my very own blog. Mine, mine, mine!
